Description

Catch-22 is an ironical novel by Joseph Heller. The novel was published in 1961, from Simon and Schuster publishers. This novel uses a typical non- consecutive third-person narration. The book is written in English and the genre is black humour, war fiction and historical fiction.

Synopsis

The novel is dissident, volatile, harsh and funny. Above 50 years on, the strength of the novel is undiminished. The story is set up on a bombardier named Yossarian who is desperate and furious because many people, with whom he never met, keep trying to murder him. This is one of the best-selling novels of this author, which is really humorous and sad satire on military madness and the story of a person who tries to survive it. The novel is divided into segments. Some events in the book are drawn from different points of view, so that the reader gets to know more about the events through the iterations. Catch-22 was even adapted into a feature film of the same name in 1970, directed by Mike Nichols.
